Moorea. The Society Islands’ reef is preparing for a momentous occasion. After a break and some well-deserved vacations, the Under The Pole teams are returning. The next few months are going to be filled with rich discoveries. The program aims to fulfill a beautiful dream called "Capsule", which was conceived three years ago...
Whether they're on land, in the rented house, or on board the WHY, everyone will be busy. As the hub of the mission, base camp will be a hive of activity, with up to 30 people working there. Emmanuelle and Ghislain Bardout have never been so close to the ultimate dream of a diver: to live underwater, without a time limit, to observe and study the seafloor as they wish. Diving suits are unable to do this. But the “Capsule” should be able to. After 10 years of innovative underwater exploration, the couple, through the Under The Pole expeditions, have launched the ambitious and never-before-seen project of constructing a habitable underwater observatory. As many before them have dreamed, including the likes of Jules Verne and Jacque-Yves Cousteau, the project is now coming to life. Located 20 meters below sea level, the capsule will enable saturation dives to continue for up to 3 successive days.
Conscious of their role in immortalizing and sharing this adventure, the whole team is working towards creating a new series of web documentaries dedicated to launching this device. It will begin with the first immersive episode which will present the project, from its creation to the early preparation work and launching the “Capsule’s” ballasts into the water. Action!
